Dr Arunachalam Muruganatham plans to launch 100% biodegradable sanitary pads.
He is popularly known as the ‘Pad Man’ of India.
Muruganatham said the trial met with 98% success.
But he needs some time before the final product hits the market.
He was speaking at the virtual gathering of TiE Sustainability Global Summit.
According to Menstrual Health Alliance India, one sanitary pad could take up to 800 years to decompose.
It uses non-biodegradable plastic, which can cause health and environmental hazards.
Muruganatham said that anything we produce has to be nature-friendly.
He assured that his initiative will have the most environment-friendly, low-cost sanitary napkins.
The Padman dreams of making India a 100% sanitary napkin using country.
