കാലിഫോര്ണിയയിലെ നാസയുടെ ജെറ്റ് പ്രൊപ്പല്ഷന് ലബോറട്ടറിയിലാണ് ഹെലികോപറ്റര് നിര്മിക്കുന്നത്. ചൊവ്വയുടെ അന്തരീക്ഷത്തിന് അനുയോജ്യമായ ഡിസൈനിലാണ് ഹെലികോപ്റ്റര് ഡെവലപ്പ് ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നത്. 1.8 കിലോയില് താഴെ മാത്രമാണ് ഭാരം. ഒരു സോഫ്റ്റ്ബോളിന്റെ വലുപ്പം മാത്രമാണ് ബോഡിക്ക് ഉളളത്. ബാറ്ററി ചാര്ജ്ജ് ചെയ്യാന് സോളാര് സെല് ഉള്പ്പെടെയുളള സംവിധാനങ്ങളുമുണ്ട്.
മാര്സ് 2020 റോവേഴ്സ് മിഷന്റെ ഭാഗമായി നാസയുടെ പേടകത്തിലാണ് ഹെലികോപ്റ്റര് ചൊവ്വയിലെത്തിക്കുക. പേടകത്തില് നിന്നുളള കമാന്റ് അനുസരിച്ച് ഹെലികോപ്റ്റര് പറക്കും. ചൊവ്വയെക്കുറിച്ചുളള പഠനത്തില് ഗൗരവമാകുന്ന വഴിത്തിരിവാണ് ഈ ദൗത്യത്തിലൂടെ നാസ പ്രതീക്ഷിക്കുന്നത്. സയന്സുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ട ഇന്നവേഷനുകളിലും ഗവേഷണങ്ങളിലും നാസയുടെ കണ്ടുപിടുത്തങ്ങള് നിര്ണായകമാകും. അതുകൊണ്ടുതന്നെ ശാസ്ത്രലോകവും ആകാംക്ഷയോടെയാണ് നാസയുടെ നീക്കം വീക്ഷിക്കുന്നത്.
