It was an article published in Washington Post stating India was not a safer place for women that led a group of aspiring innovators to come up with their startup Lares.ai. Most often, during the situation involving crime, police depend on the CCTV footage to nab the culprit. This doesn’t help in preventing the crime, but only to arrest the criminal. But Lares.ai proves that CCTV cameras can even prevent the crime. Lares has developed a cloud-based AI Software, CloudVU, to find solutions in surveillance analytics.
Making use of CCTVs
India has around 2 million CCTV camera, but that is still not adequate to ensure women’s safety. Crimes keep happening in daylight. Lares team wanted to change the existing system, says Lares Chief Marketing Officer Pavin Krishna.
CloudVU software ups effectiveness
CloudVU helps in facial recognition, person tracking, traffic-civil violation recognition and violence detection. Muhammed Zakir, Manukrishna N S, Muhammed Fayas N H and Pavin Krishna are the founders of Lares. Lares focuses on security and analytics. CloudVU operates on Multi Analytica, an algorithm. CloudVU software can quickly analyze CCTV footage, identify people in suspicious circumstances without human assistance, and transfer this data to the police immediately.
Facial expressions are the key
Multi-technologies are used in Lares platform. Some of them are facial recognition, object detection, and micro facial recognition. These help in analysing the expressions on people’s face. Behaviour analysis, walking pattern and pose are also analysed to implement the AI-based video surveillance. The next step in the pipeline is business analytics.
Approached Palakkad Cyber Cell
Lares team has approached Palakkad Cyber Cell with the project. Currently, the CCTV visuals come to assistance during post crime analysis. CCTV cameras can be integrated with the CloudVU software system to identify images of criminals in the database through face mapping. The technology helps in identifying even partially covered faces. Lares aims to transform the existing CCTV and surveillance camera more intelligent and responsive one to enforce the law and detect violence in real-time.
With processing and other aspects happening in the camera itself, Lares aims to transform CCTV camera into an AI solution.
