She was a girl who, from birth, had lost the ability to move, albeit gradually. Her parents were constantly worried about how she would live when she grew up. But her grit and determination to live without depending on others made Radhambika aiming for stars and the signatures of her precision workmanship were visible on every space mission India undertook. Radhambika is the founder and chairperson of Sivavasu, a company that integrates electronics assembling, card wiring and board integration in ISRO’s space missions.I wanted to earn money to meet at least my expenses, not being at the mercy of someone. It was then that I got an opportunity for a one-year training from the vocation rehabilitation centre, Says Radhambika.
Radhambika started Sivavasu in 1983 taking other physically challenged women along with her. Even before public enterprises started working for ISRO, Sivavasu partnered with the space agency in electronics assembling since the launch of ASLV. Since then, Radhambika and her team dedicatedly work for ISRO for its ASLV, PSLV and GSLV missions. she was determined to make money for her food. Then and she got married and received all the support. But, it was my willpower that got me doing difficult things. I strongly believed that I can do things, opines Radhambika.
Sivavasu started ISRO association with ISLV. And this company was the first to associate with ISRO, even before KELTRON. Radhambika not only could reach for the sky in the entrepreneurial journey but also could spread the light of hopes for more than 750 differently abled girls.
