From depending on just 2 dollars daily for survival to providing millions of poor people an opportunity to earn income, Dr. Paul Polak has created a history among entrepreneurs. Dr Paul passed away in October 2019, leaving behind many milestones he created in business, service and health. Born in Czechoslovakia in 1931, Polak started earning at the age of 12, by working at a strawberry plantation.
The International Development Enterprise (IDE) is a project he initiated to root out poverty in collaboration with farmers in Bangladesh. They have barely pushed their living at the cost of two dollars a day. Dr. Paul Pollack helped them to earn income by the means of a foot pump, coal sales method and fresh water supply.
Spring Health Movement, which he initiated in India received good attention. It was a salt-chlorination project with battery power. Bleach made through such process can be purified by water, which made the idea get such acceptance. It started off as a door-to-door delivery in refillable containers.
Windhorse International is a movement started by Dr. Paul in 2007. It is a movement to help small enterprises, including small businesses, learn how to design products, pricing and market distribution. The first division of the Spring Health Water and Windhorse International was the drinking water supply. Drinking water was sold through local kiosks.
In 2007, he co-founded D’Rev, a company that develops specially designed products that enable the ordinary people to earn income. He is one of the few entrepreneurs in the world who has given new ideas and livelihoods to the poor community.
