The Intern, story of a 70-year old internee in a fashion startup #MoviesforEntrepreneurs #Channeliam

The intern, directed by Nancy Meyers, is a journey through the inner conflicts of a woman entrepreneur and a 70 year old intern who becomes her anchor. Anne Hathaway and Robert De Niro play the lead role.

‘About the Fit’, a fashion startup based in Brooklyn, is an emerging enterprise by a woman. Founder and CEO Jules Ostin started the company at her home and expanded it into an enterprise with 220 employees in 18 months. Ben Whittaker, a 70-year old widower joins the company as an intern as a part of its community outreach programme.

Ben Whittaker, who was an executive at DEX One, decides to apply for the senior citizen intern post to beat the boredom of retirement life. Initially, Jules is not impressed by Ben and is annoyed that he is too observant.

Over time, Ben becomes a father figure to most of the employees. They approached him for tips on dressing, dating and maintaining work-life balance. He becomes the life and soul of people around him.

By voluntarily cleaning a messy desk Ben surprises Jules. He offers help in taking her daughter to a birthday party, once. Slowly, Ben makes his way to Jules’ good books.

Ben, with his rich life experience, becomes Jules’ mentor. She adores him more after learning that Ben joined their company as an intern so that he could be in that building which happened to be his office earlier. He had worked there for almost 40 years.

The investor in Jules’ startup proposes to appoint a new CEO considering her workload and output. After much contemplation Jules decides to accept the offer thinking it might let her spend more time with the family. Meanwhile, Ben learns more about the life of Jules. Her husband Matt is a stay -at -home Dad. Jules’ busy schedule creates a dent in their relationship.
