In Thrissur, a machine with four defensive mechanisms has been developed to fight COVID-19. It can provide a mask for Rs 5 and has UV scanner for virus killing and a special tray to dispose of waste that includes used masks.
If used masks are not properly disposed of, that would turn out to be the next environmental risk. This machine has a solution for that, too. The mask vending machine is designed in a way to load up to 400 masks and 20 litres of sanitizer. As of now, Rs 35,000 has been spent to build the machine. The team believes that the production cost can be lowered with more orders. The first unit of the machine was built in six weeks.
