CEO PTM Suneesh on Gender Park initiative in Kerala

Gender Parks is a first-of-its-kind initiative in the world. As part of it, both campus and off-campus activities are being carried out. The much-acclaimed initiative ‘She Taxi’ was an off-campus project of Gender Park. The Gender Park campus, spread across 24 acres, offers a Gender Museum and Gender Library. The Gender Library is a unique initiative from India. Besides these, an Amphitheatre and International Convention Centre also function as part of the Park.

In collaboration with foreign universities, the entity also offers the Women in Sustainable Entrepreneurship (WiSE )Fellowship, which has brought significant changes to the entrepreneurial ecosystem of India. The International Conference on Gender Equality (ICGE), a global forum for international dialogue, knowledge sharing and collaboration, was a mandate of the Gender Park. The first ICGE launched a transgender policy for the first time in India. ICGE 2 is themed around sustainable entrepreneurship and social business. ICGE 2 drafted a policy on sustainable entrepreneurship policy. This is for the first time a state in India has formulated a policy on sustainable entrepreneurship. Moreover, recognising the importance of Gender Park, UN Woman has been collaborating with the organisation on various projects and activities. Today, Gender Park has become a South Asian hub for gender equality. It is the Gender Convergence Center in South Asia.

Interestingly, 70-80% of postgraduates in Kerala are women. But, they do not get to explore entrepreneurial opportunities. The concept of ‘Social Entrepreneurship’ was conceived to promote women entrepreneurship. Kerala is an ideal place to support social entrepreneurship and social business. Social entrepreneurship will give young women more incentives to become an entrepreneur. An arm of the Gender Park, IWTC will be a total solution for women entrepreneurs in Kerala. The IWTC stands out as a business incubation centre and a place for investors to connect with women startups. It will be a marketplace for entrepreneurs for their services and products.

It will become a one-stop solution for women who want to do something in Kerala. Dr PTM Sunish said these while talking to Channeliam.com Founder Nisha Krishnan.
