Sputnik V to boost India’s vaccination programmes
The first consignment to reach India on May 1
Indian partner of Russia’s RDIF, Dr Reddy’s, will receive the first batch
The number of doses to arrive in India and the price are yet to be ascertained
Developed by Gamaleya Research Institute, Sputnik V has an efficacy of 91.6%
As per earlier understandings, the first batch will be made available to the private market
The subsequent sets, produced in India, will be divided between the Centre, the states and private players
As of now, Sputnik V’s global price is around $10 a dose
Currently, India has two vaccines – Covaxin and Covishield
