IIT-Madras researchers develop a blockchain app to secure healthcare information
The app ‘BlockTrack’ is the first-of-its-kind in the healthcare info system
It will integrate primary healthcare, prescription, pharmacy, distribution and insurance network
This system is currently being field-tested at IIT Madras Institute Hospital
The app will decentralise control and ownership of patients data via a blockchain-based innovation
Patients can choose to visit any healthcare facility which is on BlockTrack’s blockchain network
They don’t need to worry about data duplication, records or re-registrations
