A Kerala-based startup secured the first position in Hitachi India’s ‘Appathon’ conducted in collaboration with the Kerala Startup Mission. ‘Doorward Technologies’, a startup from Kochi, won the first prize worth Rs 20 Lakh. Appathon Challenge aimed at developing digital innovations that cater to the retail sector. Doorward Technologies, founded by Basil Varghese and his wife Susanna K. Kurian, connects suppliers with rural shops.
They have developed the ‘Doorward Merchants’ Platform’ to meet the needs of small businesses in rural areas through suppliers. The platform is developed as a set of microservices in the SaaS model. Some of the microservices include web store, SMS order, phone order, location sorting, locating popular items in each location, and navigation service to suppliers. Doorward Merchants platform will send lists of each region to concerned suppliers’ phone. For that, it will invite applications from suppliers. This platform can take thousands of orders at a time. Basil says the main mission of Doorward Technologies is the development of villages.
The nine-member team is currently developing an e-learning platform. The main products are ‘platforms to conduct examinations’ and ‘learning management system’. Doorward Technologies’ Dream Project is a quality mega conferencing system in 2G speed. Basil expects investors to complete the project.
