India tops the list of 30 countries worldwide for ransomware attacks
68% of Indian organisations surveyed were hit by ransomware in the last 12 months
The global survey, called ‘The State of Ransomware 2021’ was done by cybersecurity firm Sophos
However, the number of organisations hit by ransomware attacks came down from 82% in the previous year
The survey says the average total cost of recovery from a ransomware attack has more than doubled in a year
It increased from $7,61,106 in 2020 to $1.85 million in 2021 globally
In India, approximate recovery cost tripled from $1.1 million in 2020 to $3.38 in 2021
As per the survey, Indian organisations were the most likely to pay a ransom of all countries surveyed
