The petition available on change.org received over 18,000 signatures within a week
Jeff Bezos is all set to take off in his space startup Blue Origin rocket next month
The New Shepard spacecraft is scheduled for launch from West Texas on July 20
His brother Mark Bezos will also be on board
The six-seater capsule and 59ft rocket tear toward the edge of space on an 11-minute flight, reaching over 60 miles above Earth
The spacecraft was developed after six years of extensive and often secretive testing of the rocket and capsule
Another petition titled ‘Do not allow Jeff Bezos to return to Earth’ has amassed more than 25,000 signatures
