E-commerce giant Amazon has acquired Facebook’s satellite internet team
The team comprises experts, including physicists and hardware and software engineers
Procurement also covers some of the team’s intellectual property, and equipment and facilities
The deal supports Amazon’s $10 Bn effort to develop low-earth orbit (LEO) satellites
This will ensure delivery of high-speed broadband internet
The financial terms of the deal are yet to disclose
Amazon’s rivals are Elon Musk’s Starlink network, Bharti Global’s OneWeb, and Europe’s Eutelsat
