Hiring dilemma for IT firms

Recent reports say that IT firms struggle to recruit experienced talents

The top firms – TCS, Infosys, HCL and Wipro – plan to hire over 1 lakh freshers this fiscal

Cognizant has plans to hire 30,000 freshers and 100,000 laterals this year

The latter means onboarding about 300 experienced persons per day

For that, one needs to make offers to about 700 people per day

Most IT enterprises show a drop out ratio of more than 40%

Despite having a strong hiring system, companies struggle to hire laterals

Offer acceptance has also dropped, especially for skills facing a severe shortage

The situation forces IT firms to give bigger salaries for such talents

For instance, Java developers with five years’ experience move from Rs 7.5 lakh to nearly Rs 14 lakh

Companies are currently exploring options such as ‘hire-and-deploy’ model to solve this
