Google tweaked its 992 emojis to make them “universal, accessible and authentic.”
The new designs will reach this fall alongside Android 12
It will also be available on older versions with apps that use its Appcompat compatibility layer
Other platforms like Gmail, Chrome OS, Google Chat and YouTube Live Chat will also get them
The redesign is to make the emojis relatable to a wider range of audience
For instance, the face mask emoji now has a face with its eyes open
It’s because the mask has now become a symbol of ‘kindness’ than ‘sickness’
