PM Modi attended the first in-person meeting of ‘Quad’ leaders
The meeting was hosted by US President Joe Biden
Modi said that he firmly believes in the group
He added it would ensure peace in the Indo-pacific and the whole world
Quad, comprising India, Japan, the US and Australia was formed in Nov 2017
It intends to keep the critical sea routes in the Indo-Pacific free of influence
The countries are concerned over China’s growing military presence in the strategic region
Meanwhile, China called the formation a ‘closed clique’
It said the formation is ‘doomed to fail’
It further said the group shouldn’t target any third country and its interests
