Union Minister Nitin Gadkari asks real estate developers to clear inventory. The minister said that firms should sell inventories without looking for a profit. Real estate companies can have their own NBFCs in line with automobile companies, he added. Real estate companies should adopt advanced technologies and reduce construction cost. Construction and real estate sector provides employment to 15% labour force in India.

1 Lakh MSMEs to benefit from Central Bank of India’s new emergency credit scheme. ‘Cent Covid-19 Sahayata’ scheme targets MSMEs suffering from stressed liquidity and operational charges. MSME borrowal accounts can raise the credit up to 10% of existing fund-based working capital limits. The emergency credit has to be repaid in 18 EMIs with a 6-month moratorium period. Valid till June 30, 2020, agri-enterprises and corporates are also eligible for the scheme.
Income Tax dept to refund Rs 733 Cr to Vodafone Idea. The telecom operator had sought the amount as part of a tax dispute. Vodafone-Idea is yet to pay Rs 51,000 Cr of AGR dues to govt. The company’s contested total refund worth Rs 4,759 will help clear a part of its statutory dues. The Supreme Court has directed the IT department to refund the amount within 4 weeks.

India introduces e-retail chain for the rural community. The initiative follows the model of Flipkart and Amazon. The app, backed by the Govt of India, focuses only on rural-level retail activities. Customers can order supplies through this specially curated app. It is designed for the supply of essentials in villages through fast-expanding outlets. Both online and offline orders for essentials like vegetables and milk will be taken care of. Orders will be delivered within a period of a few hours or at the maximum, a day.
