Indian Institute of Technology-Delhi develops a low-cost COVID-19 detection kit. The kit was approved by the Indian council of Medical Research (ICMR). IIT-D is the first academic institute to obtain ICMR approval for a real-time PCR-based diagnostic assay. The kit made using indigenous technology costs barely a few hundred. IIT Delhi intends to begin the production of this kit by this week itself. The 10-member team identified unique regions in the COVID 19/SARS COV-2 genome.
