IIT Alumni Council launches India’s first COVID-19 testing bus. It will help people in dense urban areas to access affordable rapid testing. The first-of-its-kind vehicle is developed through indigenous Kodoy Technology. The bus has a low dosage X-Ray, AI teleradiology and contactless swab collection. It also has a wireless robotic ultrasound probe.

NBFCs ask RBI for one-time restructuring of all loans till March 2021. Because borrowers are facing funding issues with the COVID-19 lockdown. The measure was suggested by the industry players in their meeting with the RBI. RBI had already allowed the facility for loans to MSMEs till December 2020. NBFCs want that the same to be allowed for all other borrowers as well. The most affected segments include transport operators, contractors and MSMEs.

WhatsApp launches chatbot in collaboration with IFCN. IFCN chatbot will help users fact check all the coronavirus-related messages. The initiative will connect people with independent fact-checkers in more than 70 countries including India. The IFCN’s bot provides users with a global directory of fact-checking organisations. It is also capable of identifying the user’s country with the help of the mobile country code. Initially, the chatbot will be available only in English.

Govt hikes excise duty on Petrol and Diesel. Hike on Petrol is by Rs 10 and Diesel Rs 13. MRP of petrol and Diesel will remain the same. The duty hike has taken away gains from falling crude oil prices. Duty rate changes will come into effect from May 6.
Whatsapp Pay to commercially launch in India by May end. The feature was running in beta version for over 2 years in India. The feature enables digital payments via WhatsApp. WhatsApp Pay would be supported by HDFC, ICICI and Axis Bank. It will be launched in a phased manner.
