Whatsapp Pay to commercially launch in India by May end. The feature was running in beta version for over 2 years in India. The feature enables digital payments via WhatsApp. WhatsApp Pay would be supported by HDFC, ICICI and Axis Bank. It will be launched in a phased manner.

The Centre plans massive evacuation of NRI’s via aircraft and Naval ships. More than 60 flights will be operated to bring 15000 Indians. From May 7 to May 13, over 2,000 Indians will be brought back per day. The 12 countries include the Gulf, USA, UK, Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines and Bangladesh. Passengers from Gulf will arrive in Kochi and Kozhikode while citizens from the UK and USA will be brought to Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Delhi. Only people showing no symptoms of coronavirus will be allowed to travel.
The Corporate Affairs Ministry sets up a 7-member panel for enhancing audit independence. The panel will examine the comments received to the consultation paper and recommend amendments. The paper had addressed five threats: self-interest, self-review, advocacy, familiarity & intimidation. Amarjit Chopra, KVR Murty, PR Ramesh, Ajay Bahl, Sridhar Pamarthi, NK Dua and Atma Sah are the panel members. The report has been asked to submit by June 30.

Corona: U.S healthcare major Abbot to roll out lab-based antibody test in India. The firm had received CE mark for its lab-based serology blood test. The antibody test can detect if a person has been previously infected. This would help in understanding the lifespan of antibodies in a body. This would, in turn, help in the development of treatment and vaccines.
