സ്പെയ്സ് സെക്ടറിലെ സ്റ്റാര്ട്ടപ്പുകള്ക്കായി നേരിട്ട് ഇന്കുബേഷന് ഫെസിലിറ്റി ഒരുക്കാനുളള തയ്യാറെടുപ്പിലാണ് ഐഎസ്ആര്ഒ. കേരളം ഉള്പ്പെടെയുളള സംസ്ഥാനങ്ങളാണ് ഇന്കുബേഷന് ഫെസിലിറ്റികള്ക്കായി പരിഗണിക്കുന്നതെന്ന് ഐഎസ്ആര്ഒ ചെയര്മാന് കെ. ശിവന് പറഞ്ഞു. സ്പെയ്സ് റിസര്ച്ചില് കൂടുതല് ഇന്നവേഷനുകള് സാധ്യമാക്കുകയാണ് ഐഎസ്ആര്ഒയുടെ ലക്ഷ്യം. 2019 ല് ബഹിരാകാശ ദൗത്യങ്ങള്ക്ക് ചെറു റോക്കറ്റുകള് പരീക്ഷിക്കാനുളള തയ്യാറെടുപ്പിനിടെയാണ് സ്റ്റാര്ട്ടപ്പുകള്ക്കായി ഇന്കുബേഷന് ഫെസിലിറ്റി ഒരുക്കാനും ഐഎസ്ആര്ഒ നീക്കം നടത്തുന്നത്. സ്പെയ്സ് ടെക്നോളജിയില് കോണ്സെന്ട്രേറ്റ് ചെയ്യുന്ന ഇന്നവേറ്റേഴ്സിന് പ്രതീക്ഷ നല്കുന്നതാണ് ഐഎസ്ആര്ഒയുടെ നീക്കം.
കേരളത്തില് തുമ്പയിലെ റോക്കറ്റ് വിക്ഷേപണ കേന്ദ്രത്തോട് അനുബന്ധിച്ചാണ് ഇന്കുബേഷന് ഫെസിലിറ്റി പരിഗണിക്കുന്നത്. ഇതിനായി ലോകത്ത് പല സ്ഥലങ്ങളിലും നടപ്പാക്കിയ ഇന്കുബേഷന് മാതൃകകള് വിലയിരുത്തി വരികയാണെന്ന് കെ. ശിവന് വ്യക്തമാക്കി. സ്റ്റാര്ട്ടപ്പുകളിലൂടെ റോക്കറ്റ് വിക്ഷേപണത്തിലും ഉപഗ്രഹ ഡെവലപ്മെന്റിലുമടക്കം പുതിയ സൊല്യൂഷനുകള് തേടുകയാണ് ഐഎസ്ആര്ഒ ലക്ഷ്യമിടുന്നത്. നിലവില് ഐഎസ്ആര്ഒയുടെ വാണിജ്യ വിഭാഗമായ ആന്ട്രിക്സ് സ്വകാര്യ സ്റ്റാര്ട്ടപ്പുകളുമായി സഹകരിക്കുന്നുണ്ട്. നേരിട്ട് ഇന്കുബേഷന് ഫെസിലിറ്റികള് ആരംഭിക്കുന്നതിലൂടെ മികച്ച സ്പെയ്സ് ടെക്നോളജി സ്റ്റാര്ട്ടപ്പുകളെ വളര്ത്തിയെടുക്കാന് കഴിയുമെന്നാണ് ഐഎസ്ആര്ഒയുടെ വിലയിരുത്തല്.
നാസയും യൂറോപ്യന് സ്പെയ്സ് ഏജന്സിയുമൊക്കെ സ്റ്റാര്ട്ടപ്പുകളുമായി നേരത്തെ തന്നെ കൈകോര്ത്തിരുന്നു. മികച്ച ഇന്നവേഷനുകളാണ് ഈ മേഖലയില് നടത്തുന്നതും. ഇന്ത്യയെ ഒരു സാറ്റലൈറ്റ് ഡെലപ്പിങ് ഹബ്ബാക്കാന് ലക്ഷ്യമിട്ടുളള ഐഎസ്ആര്ഒയുടെ പ്രവര്ത്തനങ്ങള്ക്കും ഇത് സഹായകമാകും.
Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) plans to set incubators across India to support Indian startups that aim at creating applications, products and rendering services related to aerospace. Both ISRO and Startups will be the beneficiaries as the former can rely on latter for new space tech solutions and ideas at the same time the later can explore opportunities with the support of former. ISRO Chairman, K Sivan said that they might start new incubators on their own or engage existing technology incubators to support the startups . However, the model which these incubators will follow is not finalized yet. ISRO plans to open its incubator in six cities including Kerala and Karnataka.
ISRO aims to make India a hub of satellite manufacturing as well as launching them from its soil. Setting up a platform for entrepreneurs to encourage startups building newer solutions in rocketry, communication satellites and applications from remote sensing data that could be exploited commercially and result in further creating a strong local commercial space ecosystem in the country.
Till now, ISRO has been working with startups through its commercial arm Antrix Corp. It has worked with startups such as Bellatrix Aerospace, which builds electric propulsion systems for satellites; Aniara Communications and Exseed Space, part of a private consortium that assembles, integrates, and tests communication and remote sensing satellites; and Satsure, an Agri-analytics company.
ISRO will begin testing small rocket in 2019 , for which it will rope in industry partners when the rocket is operational. ISRO is not the first space agency to look at incubating startups. European Space Agency’s business incubator center or ESA Space Solutions has incubated startups in the last 20 years.
