Go Desi startup brings food products which are available only in rural areas into the retail market and thereby helps small enterprises reap profits. Vinay Kothari, a person with 12 years of experience in FMCG sector that made him start his social enterprise, Go DesiFoods.
The idea of Go Desi was born during Vinay’s trek to the Western Ghats. During the journey, he tasted ‘jack fruit bars’ and ‘imlipop’ from a local shop. They didn’t have any preservatives, coloring or added sugar. Vinay smelled a business opportunity while he savoured the delicacies. While returning, he packed 30 kg of various sweets and confectionery which he sold later in an exhibition in Bengaluru. The rave reviews he received for the food products made him take the final call on setting up Go Desi.
