You can turn anything into a business if you wish for. All you need is to bring your soul into your work. Bueno might be just a bed but it tells a lot more about a unique entrepreneurial initiative. This Malapuram-based family is making beds using natural raw silk cotton which was abundantly available in Kerala in the earlier days.
The family brings raw silk cotton from various parts of the state. Later they are dried after removing the seeds and shell. The uniqueness is that the product is 100% pure. For over 3 decades, KV Hamza has been making beds using these raw silk cotton. Realizing the potential of it, his son Usman branded Bueno as an exclusive bed for kids and newborn.
Manufacturing baby net beds using this raw silk cotton are first of its kind initiative, says Usman. Right from manufacturing to marketing, they had to make their own way. Bueno bed which is a by-product of team work and family support. The firm lays out a focus on women empowerment: of more than 250 people it employs, 100 are women.
Bueno bed provides beds to Kerala governments’ initiative of taking care of abandoned babies, Amma Thottil. They have also made available the beds on their online segment, Bueno Shoppe.
Bueno also provides free beds to the kids born in government hospitals and medical colleges on New Year’s Day and Children’s Day. Bueno beds are available in Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and are being exported to Qatar. It also plans to expand in other GCC nations.
