An exclusive trade centre for women
Gender Park, an initiative by the Kerala government to pioneer and encourage gender parity in the entrepreneurial ecosystem, connects women business founders in the state with the global market. An exclusive trade centre will start functioning for this sole purpose. The organization has almost completed its 24-acre centre for excellence to encourage research and education at Kozhikode.
Preparing women for anything and everything
K K Shylaja, Minister of Social Welfare and Chairperson of Gender Park Governing Council, informed that proceedings have begun to expand one of the Gender Park’s most radical initiative, She Taxi, to more districts, develop a booking app and provide 24-hour call centre assistance. Gender Park is aiming to propel more women to public transportation and make them efficient in steering more buses and autos. Women from all professional fields can depend on Gender Park. The firm also assists in training women to develop skills which are required during employment. KK Shylaja added that Gender Park should be an ideal place for startups, incubation centres, educated people to express their ideas and make relevant suggestions to the community.
Women Trade Center in the making
The International Women’s Trade Center that is set to come up in Calicut Campus will combine art and business to provide opportunities for women entrepreneurs in business development and networking. Mallika Sarabhai, a leading dancer and consultant at Gender Park, said that the Gender Park will house South India’s first exclusive gender library for women and a gender museum that would create awareness about the historical background of the stellar women in Kerala. Gender Park should be a premier convergence point for gender-related studies and activities, making it into a national centre, added Sarabhai.
To conquer the territories hitherto denied to them
Gender Park is partnering with international universities to pilot fellowship to women. The Park, in association with the National Skill Development Center, will focus on promoting skill development opportunities for women. The government views the Trade Center as a step ahead in women empowerment.
