In the first workshop held under WING-Women Rise Together, training was given to aspiring entrepreneurs and students in technical and knowledge sessions. WING-Women Rise Together is a programme by Startup India to support women to entrepreneurship. Experts from different fields led the workshop. 120 participants became part of the workshop. Sahrdaya Engineering College, Thrissur, hosted the event coordinated by the Kerala Startup Mission.
Shameela Nafih, Co-founder at MealD says that the initiative has been launched at the most opportune time. WING will help women to come forward, realize their opportunities, build contacts and start their own business, added Shameela. The percentage of women who are following their own career or businesses is really low says Anu Juneo, Founder, Contentry Solutions. She added that initiatives like WING have a major contribution in bringing the margin up.
Tom Thomas, Project Director – Operations, KSUM said that the program is aimed at providing first-hand experience for women founders in technical as well as knowledge sessions. Sijo Kuruvila, founder of Rethink Foundations says that it is a fantastic time to be a women entrepreneur due to immense opportunities coming up.
The Kerala Startup Mission is in charge of implementing the programme in the five south Indian states including Kerala. The programme is conducted in partnership with Lets Venture. More WING workshops will be conducted in different parts of Kerala in the coming days.
