With the participation of small enterprises, it was agreed to manufacture defense equipment in India. The Center, together with the country’s entrepreneurs, will manufacture defense equipment worth Rs 31,130 crore for the three armed forces. The decision was taken at the Defense Acquisition Council (DAC) meeting. The meeting also approved the capital acquisition of various platforms and equipment for the Indian Armed Forces. The meeting, chaired by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, approved the proposal for Rs 38,900 crore. The decision will be a major support for the SMEs in the country.
It has been decided to purchase / upgrade the new missile system. This will increase the strike force of all three forces. The long-range surface-to-air missile system will add 1,000 km to the existing arsenal.
DAC has approved the purchase of 21 MiG-29s, upgrades for the existing 59 MiG-29s and the purchase of 12 SU-30 MKIs, following the long-standing demand for increased combat aircraft in the Air Force.
It is estimated that the purchase of the MiG-29 from Russia will cost Rs 7,418 crore. The SU-30 MKI will be purchased from Hindustan Aeronautics Limited at a cost of Rs 10,730 crore.
