Digital News portals and OTT platforms to come under the Information and Broadcast ministry
The notification, signed by President Ram Nath Kovind, was issued on Monday
Currently, there is no law or autonomous body governing digital content
So far, these platforms didn’t require certification as per the Cinematograph Act of 1952
Now, online films, digital news and current affairs will be under the purview of the I&B Ministry
