Airtel and Vi may roll out indirect tariff hikes by year-end
Plan price may remain same but benefits may be cut
Telcos aim to increase the average revenue from each user
Companies can consider current tariffs as pre-tax or tax exclusive
If so, it will be extra burden on users
Currently, all prepaid mobile plans are priced inclusive of taxes
Companies may reduce validity period of postpaid plans
Data and voice allowances of prepaid plans may also be reduced
This will force customers to opt for a higher value plan
If prepaid plans are included in pre-tax category, tariff will increase by 18%
Decreasing validity from 28 days to 24 days is equivalent to 16% tariff hike
