Dos and don'ts during nine-day Kerala lockdown

As Kerala enters yet another lockdown, it’s time for every citizen to be responsible. This not only means isolating oneself at home but also includes breaking the chain of rapid virus transmission, minimising contact with the infected, preventing the sick from venturing outdoor, providing immediate care to the needy, and saving the maximum lives from the grip of the deadly virus.

During the nine-day complete lockdown, transportation services except rail and air will not be permitted. Food stalls shall remain open until 7.30 pm. However, shops are advised to encourage home delivery. Institutions working in the healthcare sector can operate. Petrol pumps, cold storage and security agencies can also function. Central and state government offices providing essential services are also allowed. Educational institutions including training, research and coaching will remain shut.

There will be no public access to places of worship. Transportation other than rail and air services will not be permitted. Banks, insurance and financial institutions will be open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Auto and taxi will be available at airports and railway stations. Private vehicles are allowed only for purchasing essential items and medicines. IT and allied organisations can function based on conditions. Religious, political, social, recreational, sports and events will not be permitted. Funerals can have a maximum of 20 people. It must be registered at the COVID vigilance portal. Commercial and industrial areas that are immediately important will not be opened. So remember, every citizen is responsible during the lockdown.
