NASA has recorded the first-ever audio clip from Mars
The sound is of the Mars Ingenuity helicopter on the surface of the planet, not of Mars or any Martian
This is for the first time, a spacecraft on another planet has recorded the sounds of another spacecraft
The milestone was achieved by NASA’s Mars Exploration Programme ‘Perseverance rover’
It used its SuperCam microphone to listen to the Ingenuity helicopter
The helicopter’s blades make a whirring noise as the Perseverance records video and audio from 262ft away
