Indian scientists develop a sustainable method of developing hydrogen
The new method allows making hydrogen from sunlight and water
It is a cost-effective and sustainable process
Dr Kamalakannan Kailasam and his team have done this
The team is from the Institute of Nano Science and Technology (INST), Mohali
The team developed a prototype reactor that operates under natural sunlight
It can produce hydrogen at a larger scale (about 6.1 L in 8 hours)
As a catalyst, they used an earth-abundant chemical called carbon nitrides
