UGC issues guidelines for re-opening of universities and colleges

Before reopening, the Central/State Governments must declare the area of educational institutions as safe

Hostels may be opened only in such cases where it is necessary by complying to protocols

Universities and colleges across the country have been closed since March due to COVID-19 outbreak

Institutions are allowed to open only if they are outside the containment zones

Students and staff living in containment zones won’t be allowed to attend classes

Faculty, staff and students should download the Aarogya Setu App

Proper screening mechanisms should be in place while reopening

Those attending the schools/colleges should wear masks or face covers

At the same time, online/distance learning shall continue to be the preferred teaching mode
