India Cellular & Electronics Association (ICEA) signed an MoU with the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (CDAC)
It is to establish a Centre of Excellence (CoE) for Lithium-Ion (Li-ion) based products
The venture is in collaboration with the Ministry of Electronics & IT and the Uttar Pradesh government
The CoE is being set up to make India self-reliant in lithium-ion powered mobile add-on products
Over 15 products like power banks, Bluetooth speakers, smart lighting systems, and wearables will be made
By 2025, it will contribute Rs 40,000-50,000 Cr to the Indian economy
This CoE would focus on establishing a strong MSME cluster and employment generation
Three years is the time frame for the CoE to achieve self-sustainability
