Govt launches ‘Kisan Rath’ app to help farmers during COVID-19. The app will help farmers & traders identify transport facility for Agri produce. Allow transportation of farm produce from the farm gate to markets. Ensure supply linkages between farmers, FPOs, APMC markets & inter and intra-state buyers. Developed by the ministry of agriculture, the app will reduce wastage & encourage better pricing of perishable commodities.

Abu Dhabi Sheikh reportedly invests $1 Bn in Lulu Group International. An investment firm backed by Sheikh Tahnoon Bin Zayed Al Nahyan is said to be the funder. Reports say the company acquired 20% stake in Yusuff Ali-led Lulu Group. Lulu Group runs one of Middle East’s largest hypermarket chains. Abu Dhabi is now investing in local businesses to diversify its economy. Sheikh Tahnoon is the chairman of Royal Group and First Abu Dhabi Bank PJSC.

Facebook rolls out ‘Messenger Kids’ to help students during the lockdown. The app targets children below the age of 13. The ‘supervised friending’ feature will enable parents to approve new connections. Kids will be able to connect in groups and facilitate learning under parental monitoring. Introduced in the U.S in 2017, the app is now expanded to 70 countries.

Central Govt approves ‘India Covid-19 Emergency Response & Health System Preparedness Package’. The package is worth Rs 15,000 crore. The fund is aimed at developing dedicated treatment facilities and laboratories. The package will be utilized in three phases. Necessary interventions and initiatives will be implemented under the Health Ministry. An extra Rs 3,000 Cr in the package will be provided to states and UTs.

Mark Zuckerberg’s Facebook will invest Rs 43,574 Cr in Reliance Jio. Facebook will acquire 9.99% stake in Jio. Post Facebook investment, Jio’s valuation will stand at Rs 4,62,000 Cr. This will be the largest FDI for a company in India’s technology sector. This is also the first time where investment this big is garnered after selling minority stake.
