Coronavirus impact on the economy can cause deep crisis says Raghuram Rajan. Relief is that India has lesser corona cases. Economic growth in the U.S and Europe may decline. We have to wait until 2021 for the situation to improve. It is unclear whether the financial sector will show a steep or gradual rise. People will come out when public spaces turn safe, only then consumption will resume. Across industries, existing work patterns will change. Large companies should also take precaution. Govt of India announces Rs 2.3 Cr support for developing indigenous video conference tech. The support is part of the Innovation challenge under the Digital India initiative. Ministry of electronics and IT will select 10 entities/startups in the first round. Selected startups will get Rs 5 Lakh each for developing the prototype of the product. In 2nd round, 3 selected entities will get Rs 20 Lakh each to develop final product. The winner will get a contract to deploy the solution for use by Govt of India and state govts. The last date to apply is April 30, 2020.

Central govt allows employees to withdraw PF in advance. The amendment is in the wake of COVID-19. One can withdraw an amount equal to three months of basic pay and DA. Or, one can withdraw up to 75% of the amount in PF account. It will be treated as non-refundable advance.
