Ford Motor Co. invests $500M in Rivian, an electric vehicle startup. Tie-up to enable Ford to develop its own branded electric vehicle. Rivian specializes in electric pickup trucks & sport utility vehicles. Vehicles will be manufactured at the company’s startup plant in Illinois. Deliveries to customers expected to begin by late 2020.
Rivian has also received $700M led by Amazon earlier this year.
