Hard-work pays
It took three years of hard work and dedication for a group of IIT Kharagpur students to roll out their electric three-wheeler, Deshla. Prof Racherle of Mechanical Engineering Department led the production of Deshla. Clutch-less and gearless, Deshla can even be charged at home. Deshla can travel at a speed of 50 km per hour. Deshla is designed as a passenger vehicle.
Features
Apart from the driver, six people can travel on Deshla. Even during long trips, the passengers and the driver can comfortably sit and travel through Deshla. Steering Wheel is used instead of handle bars. Clutch-less and gear-less, Deshla works on an accelerator and brake pedal. Makers of Deshla claim that since the vehicle is given independent suspension, Deshla is far more stable than auto rickshaws and offers a jerk-free ride even on worst roads.
Plus Points
Deshla comes with Lithium ion battery of 4 KW power. The battery can last upto 7 years. 4 hour is the minimum battery charging time. A 3.5 KW BLDC motor engine is attached. Hydraulic brakes are used instead of mechanical brakes for efficient braking. The makers are currently is looking for funding to commence its commercial production.
