Portable water filter from Lamaara Technologies promotes water hygiene

Now believe the water you drink, thanks to Lamaara smart filter

The idea of Lamaara came in the minds of Anto and Thomas during a trip in their second year of Engineering at St Joseph College. They stopped at a cart-eatery for food. The shop owner offered them water to drink. They declined the offer due to hygiene concerns. That led them to think about ways to purify water. In the trip, they took a decision to solve the water hygiene issues. They first developed a pen-shaped product to detect the purity of water. But the product was not a solution for the major problem which they were addressing. They began to work on building a filtering product.

A portable smart bottle

A portable filter which can be transported to anywhere and able to purify any water was their idea. Lamaara Technologies introduced the Alpha version of their product in a boat that can be folded and fit into a bag or purse.

Organic bottles to hit the market

Until now, organic bottles are not available in the market. Lamaara’s filter has been filed for patent. This filter helps remove both bacteria and chemicals, say its founders. At present, Lamaara Technologies is working on bringing out completely organic and smart water bottles into the market.

Other Features

The smart water bottle is priced Rs 599. There is a cartridge built in the bottle to purify water. The cartridge alone can be bought for Rs 100. When the filter’s self shut down feature is activated after a month’s usage, it indicates that the cartridge needs to be changed. The filter was made with assistance from scientists at Bhubaneshwar IIMT. Founders claim that a single filter has the capacity to purify 1000 litres of water.
