An American student develops transparent masks for the deaf & hard of hearing community. Ashley Lawrence, who designed the mask, is a student of deaf and hard of hearing education at Kentucky Eastern University. The face mask has a clear window to let people read lips and facial expressions. Regular face masks may make it difficult for the hearing-impaired to communicate. Transparent masks came as a great relief for the community relying on ASL. So far, Ashley received orders from six US states for the masks. The masks are made adhering to CDC’s new guidelines for face coverings. Ashley currently distributes the masks for free to the needy. Those in need of masks can reach Ashley at dhhmaskproject@gmail.com.
