Govt rejects Flipkart’s proposal to venture into food retail sector. DPIIT rejected the proposal citing regulatory issue. Govt allows 100% FDI in food retail for items produced in India. Last year, Flipkart launched Flipkart Farmermart to focus on food retail in India. Market of grocery sector in India is estimated to be over $ 200 Bn.
