More than 150 ideas and models were presented at the Kerala Startup Mission’s Virtual Programme ‘Innovations Unlocked’ organised to showcase innovative ideas and models developed during the lockdown for COVID defence. Of them, 21 models were selected by the Startup Mission.
The student innovations mostly focused on the sanitisation of large spaces and the development of emergency medical equipment, mobilisation equipment, AI contactless devices and PPE kits.
More than 300 students were enrolled in the INNOVATIONS UNLOCKED programme.
Besides the products by students from various engineering colleges in the state, the fest also featured the products by students from GVHSS Madappally and GHSS Meenangadi. State Higher Education Principal Secretary Dr Usha Titus who inaugurated the virtual programme said that the way we assess children’s ability in technical education should revamp. “A large number of talented Malayalees have returned from abroad. If we can work hand in hand with them, there will be great opportunities for those with innovative ideas,” said Kerala Startup Mission CEO Dr Saji Gopinath. APJ Abdul Kalam University of Technology Vice Chancellor Dr Rajashree M.S. stressed on the importance of long-term innovations and ideas for the current scenario.
