Indian Astronomers to collaborate in the initiative to build the world’s largest telescope

The Thirty Meter Telescope (TMT) project is being installed at Maunakea in Hawaii

2020 Physics Nobel Laureate Prof Andrea Ghez will supervise the project

An international partnership between CalTech, Universities of California, Canada, Japan, China, and India

TMT will be three times as wide, with nine times more area than the current largest telescope

Will provide unparalleled resolution with TMT images more than 12 times sharper than the Hubble Space Telescope
