India introduces ‘Toycathon 2021’ to promote the toy industry
A tool to revive the domestic toy manufacturing base
Starups, MSMEs, teachers and students can participate
Competitions are in two categories: Physical and online toys
Contains nine themes such as Indian culture, history and environment
Winners will get prizes worth Rs 50 lakhs
The three-day grand finale will be held from February 23 to 25, 2021

The last date to apply is January 20
Toycathon 2021 is jointly organised by six Indian ministries
It also aims to utilise India’s game and toy ecosystem for Atmanirbhar Bharat
The domestic toy industry is valued at $1 bn
Currently, 80% for the domestic requirements is imported from other countries
Globally, the toy industry values more than $100 Bn
In that, India’s share, which is growing at a rate of 15%, is $1.5 Bn
India plans to place it as a toy exporting nation across the globe
