Know about various allocations for the healthcare industry in Union Budget 2021

This time the Union Budget considered the health care sector with great emphasis. The budget allocation for the health sector is `2.24 lakh crore, indicating the huge development that is coming in the sector. The allocation in the health sector has increased by 137 per cent over the previous year. Currently, 1% of GDP is spent on health, which means that the healthcare sector is waiting for better opportunities for entrepreneurs and startups.

The current budget allocation includes full coverage of health care, including nutrition, sanitation, clean drinking water and pollution control. The allocation was announced to include Rs 35,000 crore for Covid vaccination during the New Normal period. The government will spend Rs 64,180 crore over the next six years on the PM Atmanirbhar Swasth Bharat Yojana to improve the health sector. The money will be spent on improving facilities at primary and tertiary health centers. The National Rural Health Mission (NRHM), the largest component of the health budget, has sanctioned `27,039 crore. 17,788 health centers will be developed in rural areas. Facilities at 11,024 health centers in cities will also be upgraded. Establish integrated public health labs in all districts. There are 3,382 block public health units in 11 states, and health screening units at 32 airports, 11 ports and 7 ports across the country. Hospital blocks in 602 districts. Budget also proposes to expand the integrated health data portal to connect all public health labs.15 and to set up emergency operation centers.

The budget also includes the World Health Organization’s Regional Research Center and four regional offices of the National Institutes of Virology. It aims to distribute pneumococcal vaccines across the country to help prevent 50,000 deaths per year. Mission Poshan 2.0 will be implemented across 112 districts to address malnutrition. As the country with the second highest number of reported corona virus outbreaks in the world after the United States, India is aiming for major defenses in this area.
