NASA completes a major test on the mission to take humans back to the moon

Aims to return the US astronauts to the moon by 2024

 

NASA simulated a launch by firing the engines of the core stage of the Space Launch System (SLS) rocket

SLS rocket was anchored to a tower at NASA’s Stennis Space Center in Mississippi

SLS is expected to be taken for integration with Lockheed Martin Corp’s Orion spacecraft

NASA aims to send an uncrewed spacecraft to orbit the moon in November

This $3 Bn over programme is three years behind schedule
