He launched the first moon lander mission, accompanied by Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin on July 16, 1969

While his colleagues walked on the moon, Michael Collins was preparing for the launch back to Earth

Collins circled the moon as Armstrong and Aldrin touched down on the Sea of Tranquility on July 20, 1969

Michael Collins’ dedication and success encouraged many of the space missions later
