Amazon.com Inc plans to hire 55,000 people for corporate and tech jobs globally
This is equal to more than a third of Google’s headcount as of June 30
Chief Executive Andy Jassy said it is to keep up with the demand in retail, advertising and other areas
Over 40,000 jobs will be in the United States
The remaining opportunities will be in other countries such as India, Japan and Germany
