At a time when YouTubers are thriving in the country, Bhuvan Bam is the undisputed king of YouTube with over a massive 14 million subscribers and above 1.5 billion views.
Bhuvan is predominantly known for his comedy channel, BB Ki Vines. The channel airs videos of 2 to 8 minute duration and they capture the life of an urban teenager, his friends and family. Bhuvan has filmed the entire series of videos using the front camera of his phone and plays all the character by himself. BB Ki Vines is popular among Indian youth for its slapstick comedies and sarcasm.
Much before taking the digital world by storm, Bhuvan was a musician. A child prodigy in music, Bhuvan used to sing at bars, pubs and hotels in New Delhi. Bhuvan’s music tracks Safar, Sang Hoon Tere and Rahguzar made him earn 30 million views in a single year. A major portion of Safar was shot in Kerala.
Bhuvan Bam’s short film ‘Pulse Minus’ in which he starred alongside Divya Dutta crossed 2 million views on Youtube in just 2 days. He also won a Filmfare for this. Bhuvan also holds his chat show Titu Talks on YouTube. None other than Bollywood’s King Khan Shah Rukh Khan graced the first episode of the show.
Bhuvan’s first video, which was made in 2015, created a celebrity out of him. It was based on a real-life incident featuring a reporter who was asking absurd questions to a Kashmiri mother grieving her son’s death from floods. The video became viral on Facebook. It inspired Bhuvan to create his own YouTube channel.
In 2016, Bhuvan Bam was awarded at the WebTVAsia Awards 2016 held in Seoul, South Korea, for running the most popular Indian Youtube channel. In August 2019, Bhuvan’s video ‘Pani Ki Samasya’ had been trending on YouTube with over 77 lakh hits.
Bhuvan was gifted a diamond icon by YouTube for crossing 10 Million subscribers. BB creates a benchmark for entrepreneurs by minting millions out of a smartphone.
