Facebook launches ‘Collab’ app to compete with TikTok. The app is released on iOS as an invite-only-beta. Users can make 3 short videos using different music instruments and combine them. Collab is developed by Facebook’s New Product Experimentation (NPE) group. Released in 2016, TikTok app has been downloaded 2 billion times.
NTPC eyes 51% stake in ADAG’s power utilities in Delhi. NTPC Limited is India’s largest energy conglomerate. Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group has two Discoms in Delhi namely BRPL and BYPL. BRPL and BYPL supply electricity to approx 4.4 million customers in Delhi. NTPC will be the first Public Sector Undertaking to buy ADAG’s stake in BSES.
Abu Dhabi state fund to invest in Jio platforms, say reports. Mubadala Investment Company is in talks to invest about $1 Bn in Reliance Jio. In the previous month, Jio platforms garnered investment worth $ 10 Bn. Mubadala Investment Company is the second-biggest state investor in Abu Dhabi. The entity manages around $240 Bn in assets.

Zoom urges users to update app before May 30. The plea to ban Zoom app in India is still under consideration. Zoom 5.0 will be a mandatory update to join any Zoom meeting from May 30. GCM encryption will be added with Zoom 5.0 update. Not a full-proof end-to-end encryption, but safer than the current version.

Google faces antitrust cases in India after promoting payments app, say reports. Complaint alleges Google prominently showcases Google Pay app in its Android app store. It gives Google Pay an unfair advantage over competitor apps. Competition Commission of India has kept the identity of the complainant confidential. This is Google’s third major antitrust challenge in India.
