Govt awards 12 startups for innovation in animal husbandry & dairy sector. Applications were open for six problem statements that are affecting the sector. Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying Giriraj Singh announced the winners. The ministry in partnership with Startup India had launched the ‘Animal Husbandry Startup Grand Challenge’. The Challenge was launched by P.M Modi in September 2019. The selected startups will be given cash grants worth Rs 1,02,00,000.
India announces guidelines for the safe restart of manufacturing units post the lockdown. The move comes after 11 were killed and 800 hospitalized in the Vizag gas leak. The first week should be a test run; don’t aim for high production targets those days. National Disaster Management Authority asked factories to do safety audits before resuming operation. Factories should also check residual chemicals occurred in pipelines and valves during the lockdown.
Google Duo brings video calling desktop. Duo users will be able to video call from PCs or laptops. The web-based layout can include more participants. Users are required to have a Google account to access the feature. The feature will put Duo as a direct competitor to WhatsApp and Zoom.

WHO develops coronavirus app to check for symptoms. The app will be equipped with a Bluetooth-based contact tracing feature. App will ask users of symptoms and provide with guidance for testing. Governments can take the underlying technology of the app and improvise. The app will be beneficial to communities in under-resourced countries.

COVID: Bus tracking app Chalo introduces contactless ticketing solution. It has launched ‘Chalo Card’ to process tickets via QR scanning. Chalo Card is a contactless NFC tap-smart card. It is good to avoid transmission risks through cash exchange. Each ‘Chalo Card’ will have a unique mobile number attached to it. Chalo Card service has been piloted in Guwahati. Chalo has received approvals for 400 contactless buses and will start with 100. Users can purchase tickets through the app or buy physical cards.
